It was a busy first day at the SWT Czech Open. The women’s elite doublest title went to top seeds Kaptein/Chan after they made quick work of Königsmarková/Vancuríková in their semi-final before taking on Byrtusová/Zobačová in the final.
Chan and Kaptein proved too strong for the Czech duo, as they won table tennis and badminton 21-4 21-4, and squash 9-5 to claim their first SWT title together. Königsmarková/Vancuríková took the bronze medal beating Beranová/Palotainé Pozsár +37 (21-19 21-4 21-3).
The men’s doubles title went to Leon Griffiths and Koen Hageraats, who showed why they are the best in the world winning all their matches before tennis. A late withdrawal from Simon Vaclahovsky meant that father-son duo Frank and Bastian Böhm played together. They won their first match against Prager/Sam by +8 (18-21 18-21 19-21 21-5) but bowed out in the semi-finals against Griffiths/Hageraats.
Kanonenberg/Ng continued their good form that they showed a few months ago, and took out the no 2 seeds Carlier/Kurek +24 (21-8 21-5 14-19) in the quarter-finals and Breznen/Kniezek +35 (21-9 21-13 21-6) in the semi-finals.
Hageraats/Griffiths were too strong in the final, taking the match +25 (21-12 21-18 21-8) to win their first SWT title together. Bastian and Frank Böhm took home the bronze medal, beating Breznen/Kniezek +12 (21-8 8-21 21-12 13-10).
The mixed doubles title went to Chan/Ng who claimed their second elite title together. They beat Hlavacova/Egermaier +20 (21-9 21-2 11-21 0-1) in the semi-finals and their doubles partners Kaptein/Kanonenberg +18 (21-23 21-4 21-19 5-4) in the final.
Reissenauer/Böhm won bronze, beating Hlavacova/Egermaier +26 (21-15 21-14 21-8).
