Player Entry Opens 20:00CET on Tuesday June 22 | IWT London Open

We’re excited to reveal that player entry for the IWT London Open will go live at 19:00BST/20:00CET on Tuesday, June 22.

The IWT London Open is the first tournament of the 2021 FIR World Tour. It will be held at Redbridge Sports and Leisure from July 31 to August 1.

Important Entry Information

All entries for the IWT London Open will operate on a first-come-first-served basis. This means that if you are interested in competing, we suggest you enter as soon as possible. The tournament has a capacity of 70 players.

As this is a two-day event, all players are allowed to enter a maximum of 1x doubles category and 1x singles category.

Tournament entry fees can either be paid by bank transfer in advance (more details to come soon) or in cash at the tournament desk. They are £50 or EUR55 for singles and £18 or EUR20 (per players) for doubles.

As this is an FIR World Tour event, all players must have a valid FIR Players’s License for 2021 in order to enter. Player’s licenses can be purchased here.

If you are travelling to the UK from abroad we would encourage you to check all UK Government travel guidelines and restrictions here.

You can enter the IWT London Open here from 19:00BST/20:00CET on Tuesday, June 22.

Venue Information – Redbridge Sports and Leisure Centre

The Redbridge Sports and Leisure Centre has a rich racketlon history having hosted a number of FIR World Tour events over the years. The Jean Brown Arena at Redbridge has a modern, state of the art badminton hall housing 12 badminton courts on parquet flooring. It was used as a training facility for athletes at the 2012 London Olympics.

Table tennis and badminton will take place in this arena. Excellent, well-maintained glass-backed squash courts are in the building immediately next door. The outdoor tennis courts (on synthetic clay) sit right between the two buildings. There is also an onsite café providing food and snacks throughout the day.

Tournament Schedule

The doubles categories will begin at 08:00 or 09:00 on Saturday, July 31. All doubles categories will finish on the same day.

Most singles categories will start on Saturday, July 31 and will finish on Sunday, August 1.

Play will finish by 18:00 on Saturday and by 16:30 on Sunday.

Categories for the tournament will be announced depending on entries. However, we hope to have Men’s A, B and C, Women’s A and B, Juniors U16 and U13 and Seniors +40, +50 and +60. Doubles will have Men’s A and B, Women’s A and Mixed A and B categories.

Tournament Accommodation

We recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express, Newbury Park. It is 2km from the sports centre and only 12 mins, door to door, by public transport (bus or tube).

It is easiest and cheapest to book through booking.com who are currently offering a standard twin or double room at £76.00 per night per room (for 2) including breakfast. You can book that here.

Tournament Travel

Stansted Airport is 30km from Redbridge. Trains and buses from the airport all go into London Liverpool Street Station. From there, you can get a direct tube service to Fairlop tube station, next door to the sports centre.

London City Airport is less than 15km from Redbridge with easy public transport routes to the venue from the airport. Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton airports all involve longer journeys going across London.

Extra Special Players Party

As the first tournament back after such a long time, we want to organise something special for all the players on the Saturday evening after the first day of action.

RoofEast is a unique rooftop experience overlooking East London where you can eat, drink and play a variety of different sports and games. These include a baseball hitting cage, curling, lawn bowls, crazy golf and table football. We look forward to seeing which Racketlon player can hit the best baseball and slide the best on the curling ring. You can find out more about RoofEast here.

We look forward to seeing you at the IWT London Open as the FIR World Tour makes its long-awaited return.

Entry is open to players of all ages and abilities here.

The full FIR World Tour is available here.
