We want to say a huge thank you to the racketlon community after your incredible response to our fundraising call earlier this year.
We had over 160 orders for fundraising t-shirts, blowing away our expectations.
The increased demand has meant that the manufacturing process has taken a little bit longer than we expected. However, we have some exciting news.
It now looks likely that we will start sending out t-shirts next week, meaning that they should be arriving for every player before their first FIR World Tour tournament back!
We’re so excited that players will be receiving their shirts soon. It would be great if, when you receive your shirt, you could send us a picture of you wearing it so we can share some awesome pictures on social media.
What is Racketlon’s Fundraising Campaign and Why is it Important?
2020 was dominated by the global pandemic with nearly the entire World Tour having to be cancelled. 2021 has seen the cancellation of all tournaments in the first half of the year as well as the cancellation of the World Championships in Austria this August. As a result, approximately 70% of the FIR’s usual income has been lost.
While we have made every effort to adapt, reduce costs and agree to new payment terms with suppliers, it has meant that we have had to use up nearly all of our financial reserves in order to stay afloat.
We simply want to be able to continue to have World Tour tournaments (and hopefully continue to expand into new cities and countries). We want to maintain our World Rankings system and our annual World Championships. We want to continue the roll-out of our junior development programme (with our pilot programme already launched). We want to continue to be able to welcome and support new countries into the sport (Spain, Luxembourg, Thailand, Afghanistan and Norway have all recently joined the Racketlon family and recent developments mean we hope to soon welcome countries like Peru, Ghana, UAE and Egypt). We want to continue the huge growth and impact of our social media activity. We want to install a live streaming service at every world tour tournament. We want to help our member countries set up online advertising campaigns to promote their tournaments and grow their player numbers.
That is why we now need your support to help our wonderful sport and community through these uncertain times. While the orders have closed now for the fundraising t-shirts, there is another way you can help.
