It was a good start to the weekend for Bastian Böhm as he won two gold medals on Friday. He won the Men’s Doubles with Steffen Neumann, who prolonged his Racket Masters Augsburg title after winning the Challenger event with Sian Wiggin last year. Böhm was also victorious in the Mixed Doubles alongside Silke Altmann.
Böhm/Neumann won an incredibly close semi-final against Hougaard/Stahl by +2. They took table-tennis 23-21 and badminton 21-9, before Hougaard/Stahl took squash 21-12. Tennis was very close as well, with Böhm/Neumann taking it 17-20. The overall score was +2 (23-21 21-9 12-21 17-20).
Their opponents in the final were top seeds Oettl/Vaclahovsky, who beat Kurek/Lesser +20 (17-21 21-17 21-9 10-2). Böhm/Neumann were the slightly stronger pair in the final, taking table tennis 21-9 and badminton 21-15. They lost squash 21-2 but turned it around in tennis, taking it 21-11 and the match +9 (21-9 21-15 2-21 21-11). Hougaard/Stahl finished third, beating Kurek/Lesser +21 (24-22 21-13 21-11 1-0).
Andrea Brettl steppin last minute in the mixed doubles as Amke Fischer unfortunately had to retire due to illness. Brettl and Hougaard had a tough first match against Serrano/Windbacher, with Serrano/Windbacher taking it +5(21-17 21-11 14-21 15-17).
Their last match was against Altmann/Böhm who won the match +21 (21-13 21-12 18-21 8-1).
B titles for – Böhm/Carlier, Albrecht/Hu, Vancuríková/Hobzik
It was a good day for the Böhm family, as dad Frank Böhm also won a gold medal in the men’s B doubles with Bertand Carlier. They beat Bodem/Windbacher +21 (21-12 21-18 21-13 2-1). Altmann/Böhm then went on to claim the title, taking it +20 (17-21 21-14 21-9 7-2) against Serrano/Windbacher. Akdag/Kaess won bronze, beating Häusele/Lechner +21 (21-10 21-10 14-21 7-1).
ALbrecht/Hu won the women’s B doubles, winning all their group matches. They beat silver medalists Stegmann/T +17 (21-10 20-22 21-15 7-5). Heufelder/Von Heimburg finished third. Vancuríková/Hobzik won the mixed B in an tight final, taking it +1 (21-16 21-17 16-21 18-21) against T/Carlier. Hu/Hu finished third, beating ALbrecht/Sontag +5 (21-12 21-7 13-21
