We’re getting ready for the second tournament of the year in Finland. Originally the Finnish Open was an IWT event however due to unforeseen circumstances it was decided to run it as a Challenger event. Nonetheless it is a very exciting lineup and we can expect some great Racketlon.
Lenggenhager and Vaclahovsky top seeds
World no 3 Nicolas Lenggenhager and world no 6 Simon Valcahovsky are the top seeds for the men’s elite draw. Lenggenhager has to battle past the winner between Noah Mamié and Joel Pennanen to potentially face last years winner Luka Penttinen in the semi-finals.
2023 Polish Open Champhion René Lindberg is the no 3 seed and faces either Pekka Kainulainen or Léon Mamié in his first round. Second seed Simon Vaclahovsky will face the winner of recent Thailand Open Champion Koubaa and Jesper Hedlund.
Ahlmer looking for the title this year
Anna-Klara Ahlmer will be aiming to do one better this year after finishing runner-up in last years Finnish Open. She kicks off her 2024 Finnish Open campaign against Emilia Kostianen. In the other quarter-final on the top half of the draw Finland’s Viivi Paksu will take on Netherland’s Fabienne Dony.
Holly Ranson is the second seed for this event and had a strong finish to her 2023 season, ending with a silver medal in La Santa and a first top 10 appearance the women’s elite rankings in January. She will take on Kaisu Anttila. The other quarter-final will be between Linnea Koskinen and Heli Mäkelä.
