Player entry has opened for the Thailand Open Challenger, the first event on the 2023 Racketlon World Tour.
Asia’s first and premier international tournament returns to the calendar for the first time since 2020.
This is the fourth time the tournament has been held, once again returning to Ambassador City Jomtien in Pattaya, Thailand. The tournament takes place from January 6-8, 2023.
“Here you have the challenge to face players that you have never played before”
Speaking ahead of the Thailand Open’s comeback, Tournament Director Frank Kleiber said, “Returning for the fourth time to the beautiful venue in Payyaya City, this is the longest-standing tournament in the South East Asia area. We can call it already more or less a traditional tournament.
“Every year there were more and more participants from all over the world until the coronavirus forced us into a three-year break. In this tournament, there are players from Asian regions such as Hong Kong, India, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore etc. So if someone in Europe is tired of playing against the same players, here you have the challenge to face players that you have never played before.
“Now the tournament is back on track and will be again held at the venue of the Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel, Pattaya from January 6-8. Accommodation can be taken at a special rate of around 60 Euro incl. breakfast for a double room in the 10th biggest hotel in the world. It is not mandatory to stay at the Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel, but it is advisable.
“The hotel can be taken at the same rates also plus-minus five days around the tournament. If you want to look around the area or want to relax at the beach, this is perfect. The venue is part of the hotel. The beach and five swimming pools are all yours, even in the break times between matches,
“This tournament is very unique and one of the most attractive on the World Tour”
“Like in previous tournaments, we will have a Players’ Dinner with a 10-course menu and 30 litres of free beer on January 7. Of course, a specifically designed tournament t-shire is also part of the package.
“The tournament offers a full service to bring you, for an affordable price of between 40 and 50 Euro, from Bangkok airport to the hotel. Information about this service is available from Tournament Director Frank Kleiber.
“A tour of the famous walking street of Pattaya is a must to get a taste of the most popular party mile in the world. Other attractions like the floating market or sea world are located on the same road as the hotel. It is possible to book a one-hour massage for less than eight euros in one of the numerous massage parlours all around. These are just some of the reasons why this tournament is very unique and one of the most attractive on the World Tour.”
Nearly 40 players from 12 countries have already entered the Thailand Open Challenger. This includes players from Vietnam, Thailand, India, Australia, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
