Who is competing in the Men’s Elite Singles?
The Men’s Elite Singles draw will consist of 32 total players. The eight highest-ranked players will be seeded and there will be four wildcards picked to take part.
Morten Jaksland is the No.1 seed in the draw and will be at the top of the bracket. As the No.2 seed, Dan Busby will be at the bottom of the draw bracket. From No.3 to No.8, the other seeds are Emanuel Schöpf, Kresten Hougaard, Luka Penttinen, Duncan Stahl, Sylvain Ternon and Nicolas Lenggenhager.
The four Wildcard entries are three-time World Champion Magnus Eliasson, returning German Joshua Zeoli, current U18 World Champion Yannic Andrey, and improving talent Max Plettenberg.
There is a number of big names who are not ranked and are also in the draw. Five-time defending champion Jesper Ratzer is back as he chases a record-equalling sixth title. Fellow Dane and multiple World Champion finalist Kasper Jønsson is also in the draw, as is current U21 World Champion and former bronze-medallist Leon Griffiths.
Florian Harca and Koen Hageraats, who have both won elite singles titles this season, are also competing, as are runners-up Oliver Bühler and Mohammed Tarik Koubaa. Another name entered is Loïc Cencig, who won the Men’s B Singles world title two years ago.
Who is competing in the Women’s Elite Singles?
There are 16 players competing in the Women’s Elite Singles. The big story ahead of the tournament is the absence of three-time defending champion Christine Seehofer, who has been forced to miss the tournament because of a shoulder injury.
That leaves Anna-Klara Ahlmer and Zuzana Severinová as the two highest seeds, sitting at the top and bottom of the bracket. The other two seeded players are Nicole Eisler and Kirsten Kaptein.
Former World Championship runner-up Astrid Reimer-Kern is heading to Switzerland chasing a title. Joining her is Stine Jacobsen, who is the only woman to have won two titles on the FIR World Tour this year. Semi-finalist at the World Championship two years ago, Barbara Maciocha makes her return.
There is one former World Champion in the draw. Playing in a World Championship for the first time in five years, two-time champion Nathalie Vogel makes her long-awaited return, receiving a wildcard into the draw. The German previously won the crown back in 2012 and 2013.
