We are excited to reveal the dates for the first potential FIR World Tour & Challenger tournament. The CHA Thailand Open is scheduled to take place in Pattaya, Thailand from the 2nd-4th January 2021. However, we are of course aware that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the tournament may not happen. Tournament Director, Frank Kleiber, has written an open letter to all players, explaining the situation with the tournament.
Frank Kleiber’s Letter about the 2021 Thailand Open
In Pattaya, Thailand, the 4th Thailand Open will be happening on 2nd-4th January 2021. This is if COVID-19 will allow us, and the Thailand government is opening the country for foreigners. The status at this moment is, that Thailand is only open for ordinary tourists, only special people with family inside the country or medical tourists can come. Nevertheless, I have booked the venue again, just in case the situation or the government decisions will change.
The situation in Thailand is different than in Europe because they have only 3 active COVID-19 cases in the last 100 days. So if we would enter the country, they will do a lot of safety precautions with us in order to keep the country Corona-free, like a negative certificate from a doctor not less than 72 hours before the flight, and a certain kind of quarantine. But if we can enter, then the tournament could be quite a safe place.
The chances for that are unfortunately 20:80 against the tournament. Therefore it is strongly advised to all of you, who consider travelling to the Thailand Open, please book everything flexibly, so that cancellation is no problem and without charges.
The tournament can be cancelled until the 5th of December. That will be the date when a final decision is made. Until then everybody may consider combining holidays with Racketlon in a quite safe environment.
