Unfortunately we have just got news from our local tournament team in Prague that the situation in the Czech Republic has worsened and that we have no other option but to cancel both the World Doubles and the IWT Czech Open – please see this message from Svata (tournament director) for more details:
The epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic has worsened again, and for this reason significantly stricter measures are being prepared in the coming days, which will make it impossible to organize planned international events.. I would like to avoid other inconveniences associated with last minute cancellation. It would not be fair to the registered players.
I’m very sorry, our determination was great, but we are forced to cancel both events in the November term.
Thanks in advance. Svata.
For the last few weeks, all the way up to just yesterday, the FIR has been working extremely hard to develop detailed plans alongside Svata and his team to enable the tournaments in Prague happen. But like so many times this year, the situation has been taken out of our hands at very short notice. Once again we are very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment to all the players.
I would like to personally thank Svata for all the hard work he has put in this year to try and stage his tournaments. From the disappointment of the cancellation in April right through to all the work he was doing to make these latest tournaments in November happen. Thank you Svata and we all hope to back in Prague next year!
