Over 400 racketlon players have come to Rotterdam to contest the 2025 World Championships Singles & Teams. From A Grade to E Grade, Under 10s to Over 70s, there’s plenty of gold medals to win.
Yesterday we previewed the Women’s elite draw. Now for the Men’s.
Seedings explained
World Championships have a unique seeding system, where the defending World Champion takes the number 1 seed, regardless of their world ranking. Therefore, Luke Griffiths, champion in 2022, 2023 & 2024 earns that honour.
For the first time in history, there was a draw for the number 2 & 3 seeds. That’s because Leon Griffiths & Sylvain Ternon have exactly the same number of ranking points and are joint World Number 1s.
Player | Country | World Ranking | Seed |
Luke Griffiths | Great Britain | 5 | 1 |
Leon Griffiths | Great Britain | =1 | 2 |
Sylvain Ternon | France | =1 | 3 |
Joerg Kanonenberg | Germany | 3 | 4 |
Koen Hageraats | Netherlands | 4 | 5 |
Kresten Hougaard | Denmark | 6 | 6 |
Nicolas Lenggenhager | Switzerland | 7 | 7 |
Mandrin Mouchet | France | 10 | 8 |
A lot of focus in the draw was on Jesper Ratzer. The Dane has won 6 World Championships and was unbeaten in racketlon for a decade before last year’s semi final against Luke Griffiths, arguably one of the best racketlon matches in history.

Jesper has been drawn into the top quarter, so there’s potential for a rematch between the two, but both players will have to win through two rounds to make it happen. Let’s take a look at the players who are hoping to spoil the party!

German Thorsten Lentfer faces Frenchman Anthony Duthuillé in round 1 and Swede Jesper Hedlund is hoping to upset the number 8 seed, Mandrin Mouchet.
The second quarter of the draw features a couple of wildcards from Asia: Tze Ho Ho (Hugo) from Hong Kong and Suhail Kapur from India. Hugo is a squash specialist, but according to our sources, he has improved his tennis considerably.
Koen Hageraats from the Netherlands and Sylvain Ternon are the two seeded players and will be expected to meet in the quarter finals. In an interview following his win in Turkey last month, Sylvain hinted that Rotterdam may be his final tournament before ending his racketlon career. He will play German Max Oldehaver in round 1.

World Number 3 Joerg Kanonenberg has been drawn into the third quarter of the draw. He plays Jonathan Ritter from Great Britain in round 1. There is a possibility of Danish derby in round 2, if Malte Thyregod and Kresten Hougaard can avoid first round upsets.

Escaping attention is Cornelius Radermacher. The German recently was a runner-up in the Berlin Open and has wins against many top 10 players. Based on seedings, Nicolas Lenggenhager and Leon Griffiths would meet in the quarter final.
