The World Racketlon Tour continues in Vienna this weekend and Pauline Cavé is back to defend her title. The Frenchwoman did not even drop a set in the 2024 Austrian Open, but will be made to work for it this year with all six women in the elite singles ranked inside the World’s top 12!
Meanwhile in the Men’s Singles, second seed Bastian Böhm has been given a tough draw, likely to face former European Champion Rav Rykowski in the second round.

6 of the best in Women’s Singles
Super World Tour events carry the second highest ranking points, therefore it’s no surprise that so many of the World’s best players will be competing in Vienna this weekend. The six players are split into two groups with Pauline Cavé, Adeline Kilchenmann & Holly Ranson in Group A and Kirsten Kaptein, Mollie Patterson & Tournament Director Sandra Ettenauer in Group B.
The two group winners will contest the final on Sunday at 12:40 PM.
Men’s Singles
Matthias Windbacher must be wondering what he’s done to upset tournament directors lately, as he will face Nicolas Lenggenhager in round 1 for the second consecutive tournament.
In the second quarter of the draw are three Austrians, who will do their best to knock out the third seed, Julien Castel from France.
Despite a low world ranking, Philipp Patzelt has been impressive on the Austrian domestic racketlon tour this year and could cause some upsets. Fourth seed Molnár Gergely from Hungary is expected to progress to the semis.
In the last quarter are a couple of wildcards, including Hamza Mriesh from Jordan, who will be making his World Tour debut. Unless one of the wildcards causes an upset, we are likely to see a round 2 match between Rav Rykowski and Bastian Böhm. Last time they met was in March at the 2025 Polish Open. The Pole defeated Bastian by just two points on the way to winning a bronze medal.
Women’s Doubles
But before the singles gets underway, the women will compete in the doubles. Last year’s Champion Clarissa Steiner will team up with fellow Austrian junior, Romy Nothegger. Seeded to play off for the gold medal are Kirsten Kaptein & Adeline Kilchenmann and British duo Mollie Patterson & Holly Ranson.
Defending Champions back in Men’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles draws
Last year Bastian Böhm & Leon Sam flew under the radar, winning the Men’s Doubles title as an unseeded pair. This year, they will be the hunted and are seeded 1. There are Austrians everywhere amongst the other pairs.
Similarly the 2024 Mixed Doubles Champions, Pauline Cavé & Julien Castel were unseeded last year. They are seeded 2 this year, but with twice as many pairs, they will have one more match after the group stage.
Keep an eye out for: Holly Ranson [1] & Bastian Böhm (GBR/GER) vs. Mollie Patterson & Nicolas Lenggenhager (GBR/SUI) – Friday 7:40 PM. This could be the match that decides who progresses from Group A into the final!
