2 elite doubles titles for Radermacher and Jacobsen | Berlin Open IWT

Cornelius Radamacher and Stine Jacobsen have teamed up to win the Mixed Doubles. It’s a second title of the weekend for both players after Cornelius won the Men’s Doubles with fellow German, Joerg Kanonenberg, whilst Stine won the Women’s Doubles with Anna-Klara Ahlmer.

Men’s Doubles Final

Bastian Böhm & Max Oldehaver were able to overcome a slow start in table tennis, trailing 7-11, to win 21-15. Joerg Kanonenberg & Cornelius Radermacher regrouped to take the last three sports, including a clinical 13-2 in the tennis, to win the title.

It’s Joerg’s 3rd elite Men’s Doubles title and Cornelius’s 6th. His first was in the 2019 Berlin Open with Duncan Stahl.

Mixed Doubles

The top seeds both progressed to the final after two wins on day 1. It was the Danish/German combination, who had their noses in front after a 24-22 table tennis win. Stine & Cornelius extended their lead through every sport and eventually took the match by 22 points.

It’s Stine’s 8th Mixed Doubles title and Cornelius’s 4th.

Mixed Doubles Podium (L-R): Holly Ranson & Bastian Böhm (2nd), Stine Jacobsen & Cornelius Radermacher (1st), Pauline Cavé & Julien Castel (3rd).

The Women’s Doubles were completed on day 1.

Cavé through to Women’s Open final

Early on day 2, Holly Ranson caused a huge upset in round 1, defeating Myriam Enmer by 20 points.  She was unable to repeat the heroics in the quarter final against Stine Jacobsen.  The World Number 2 was able to take away Holly’s badminton (her strongest sport) to claim the victory before tennis.

Big wins were a common theme in the quarter finals – three of the top four seeds won before tennis. World Number 4, Kirsten I. Kaptein, needed only 3 in tennis to win the match, which she did with ease.

World Number 1, Anna-Klara Ahlmer continued her great run in the semi final, defeating Kirsten I. Kaptein before tennis. It was a closer match in the other semi final between the World Number 2 & 3. As expected, Stine Jacobsen won the badminton comfortably. But Pauline Cavé performed well in the table tennis and squash, to make it a winner-takes-all tennis set.

With the match in the balance, it was the Frenchwoman who played best, ultimately winning 21-7 to book her spot in the final.

Stine & Pauline now have an intriguing head-to-head singles record on the World Tour.  It’s 2 wins each and they had a draw when playing against each other in the National Teams Championships!

The Women’s Singles final is scheduled for 12:20 PM German time.

Men’s Singles Semi Finals

Henrik Mustonen has won through to the semi finals, after knocking out number 3 seed Michał Kurek. Henrik takes on World Number 2, Sylvain Ternon, in the semi final.

Cornelius Radermacher remains on track for a triple crown, but he will face his doubles partner, Joerg Kanonenberg in the other semi final.
