World’s Top 5 Women all competing in Germany | Berlin Open IWT

Racketlon returns to Berlin for the first time since 2019 and we have the strongest women’s field of the year!  Meanwhile in the Men’s Singles, 5 players will be returning to racketlon for the first time in 2025, including World Number 2, Sylvain Ternon.

5 out of 5: Women’s Singles

Defending champion Astrid Reimer-Kern may not be returning, but we have all five of the top 5 women competing in Berlin this weekend.

12 players in total and the pick of the round 1 matches will be World Number 5, Holly Ranson against 2022 World Champion, Myriam Enmer.  They’re working together well as a doubles pair today, but will have to fight against each other tomorrow.  The reward?  A meeting with 2 time World Champion Stine Jacobsen in Round 2!

A quick shout out to Wan Yin Lui from Hong Kong, the only player from Asia in any of the elite draws.

Men’s Singles

Defending champion, Rav Rykowski, along with Christian Wiessner have been given wildcards into the elite singles.  Both have been slotted into the top half of the draw, alongside top seed Sylvain Ternon, former squash pro Henrik Mustonen and 3rd seed Michał Kurek.

The bottom half of the draw doesn’t look any easier with the Mamié brothers from Switzerland, Martin Sopko from Czechia, as well as the seeds Cornelius Radermacher [4] & Joerg Kanonenberg [2].

The doubles categories kicked off this morning.

Sprint format to decide Women’s Doubles

There are 5 pairs in a group and all pairs are scheduled to play every other pair.  That’s a lot of racketlon!  So, the sprint format will be used (i.e. first to 11 in each sport)

The early surprise is that Myriam Enmer & Holly Ranson have beaten top seeds Pauline Cavé & Kirsten I. Kaptein.  Second seeds, Anna-Klara Ahlmer & Stine Jacobsen also unbeaten.

Gummiarm in Round 1: Men’s Doubles

Second seeds Bastian Böhm & Max Oldehaver survived a round 1 scare against French pair Julien Castel & Thomas Cavé, eventually winning on a Gummiarm point.  They will face Michal Horácek & Jan Port from Czechia in the semi finals.

Top seeds Joerg Kanonenberg & Cornelius Radermacher were also pushed deep into tennis against fellow Germans Thorsten Lentfer & Christian Wiessner.  Joerg & Cornelius are up against Swiss brothers Léon & Noah Mamié, who won their round 1 match before tennis.

Mixed Doubles to commence this afternoon

Youngsters Holly Ranson & Bastian Böhm are top seeds in the mixed draw that features 8 pairs.  Mixed Doubles World Number 1, Pauline Cavé is teaming up with Julien Castel, but they will not be seeded.  They are in the same half as second seeds Stine Jacobsen & Cornelius Radermacher.
