CHA Racket Masters Augsburg | Wins for Paul/Vaclahovsky and Wiggin/Neumann

The first day of the Racket Masters Augsburg is over, and we can look back on an exciting day. Paul/Vaclahovsky delivered the first gold on home soil to start the day, and late entry Neumann partnered up with Wiggin to upset the seedings and win the men’s doubles.

Gold medal for Paul/Vaclahovsky

A very successful day for the German pair, as this was their first doubles match together. Paul’s last international Racketlon tournament was in 2021 so it has been a while. What a way to come back by winning a gold medal at your own club. They beat Altmann/Oettl +12 (13-21 21-17 21-13 18-10) before going on to beat Ahlmer/Wiggin +4 (23-21 21-12 21-18 8-18) in an incredibly tight match. Ahlmer/Wiggin defeated Altmann/Oettl +21 (21-18 21-15 21-11 3-1) to secure their silver medal.

Wiggin/Neumann create a surprise victory to win men’s doubles title

Neumann couldn’t have wished for a better tournament as he replaced Kanonenberg last minute. Wiggin/Neumann got off to a good start by beating Oettl/Vaclahovsky +9 (16-21 21-14 19-21 21-12), a pair that has played together many times before. They continued their good form by beating Böhm/Bühler +1 (12-21 21-15 21-13 17-21) in a match that couldn’t have been any closer. This continues to show that every points counts in racketlon, and especially the last one. Oettl/Vaclahovsky beat Böhm/Bühler to take the silver medal.
