A winning start to the weekend for Vogel/Hougaard as they continued their good form together from the Nordic Racket Games last month. Champod/Ternon didn’t waver under pressure and another title for Vogel as she wins the Women’s Elite Doubles with Allègre.
Top seeds Champod/Ternon take the men’s elite doubles title
Champod/Ternon made their seeding come true as they took the title today in the men’s elite doubles. Last time they played together they won silver at the 2022 IWT La Santa Open and they must be pleased to be on top of the podium this time. They won their semi-final against Lindberg/Tay by +16 (21-14 21-3 15-21 3-6) they were especially dominant in badminton. Their opponents in the final were N Mamié/Narayanaswamy who beat Lenggenhager/L Mamié in a tense semi-final. N Mamié/Narayanaswamy took a very close table tennis 21-19 before slightly losing 17-21 in badminton. They reclaimed a few points in squash winning 21-16 before pulling ahead in tennis and sealing the match 19-11 winning by +11.
Champod/Ternon were the favourites in the final and they immediately dominated taking table tennis 21-8. Badminton was very close which they edged out by two points, before also taking squash 21-17. This meant that they only needed 3 points in tennis to take the match and they did just that, winning their first IWT Men’s Elite Doubles title together.
The 3/4 playoff couldn’t have been any closer, but Lindberg/Tay were the slightly stronger couple today. They beat Lenngenhager/L Mamié +1 (15-21 10-21 21-14 21-10) to take the bronze medal.

Allègre/Vogel dominate the women’s doubles
It was the first time they played together, and what a start it was for Allègre/Vogel. They took out the no 2 seeds Chung/Steiner in their opening match, pulling away after a close table tennis match, beating them +26 (21-19 21-7 21-11). They faced surprise finalists Souin/Voigt, who beat top seeds Kilchenmann/Maldre +11 (16-21 21-18 21-14 17-11). Voigt replaced Cave who unfortunately had to pull out. Vogel already has 14 IWT women’s elite doubles titles and she added another one to her collection today. Allègre/Vogel dominated the final taking it +27 (21-15 21-12 21-9) and a second IWT women’s elite doubles title for

Vogel/Hougaard win another title together
Vogel/Hougaard continued their good form from the Nordic Racket Games, staying unbeaten in the mixed doubles together. They beat French Open winners Allègre/Champod in a very tight semi-final. Allègre/Champod started off strong, taking table tennis 17-21 along with badminton 21-14 before Vogel/Hougaard bounced back winning squash and tennis 21-13 and 21-14. This shows yet again that every point counts in Racketlon, as Vogel/Hougaard booked their place in the final by +4.
No 2 seeds Chung/Lenggenhager took out Steiner/Harca in their first match winning quite comfortably +25 (21-10 21-17 21-11) before taking out Von Heimburg/Wiggin in the semi-finals by +37 (21-6 21-6 13-6). This meant that the final was a repeat of the Nordic Racket Games final earlier in May, which also went in favour of Vogel/Hougaard as they won +7 (11-21 17-21 21-7 21-14) in Holbaek.
The score was not as close as in Denmark, but the quality of the match was the same. In a great final, it were Chung/Lenggenhager who took the lead again, taking table tennis 21-19. A considerably smaller margin looking at the scores last time. Badminton was the same, Vogel/Hougaard taking it 21-17 before squash was a lot closer this time round, 21-15 for Vogel/Hougaard. This meant that they only needed 14 points in tennis to claim the title, which they did taking it 14-8 and the match +14). A second consecutive title for the pair, and a second gold medal of the day for Vogel, who still has a chance to add a third gold medal to her collection in the women’s elite singles draw.
The 3/4 playoff was won by Allègre/Champod, as they beat Von Heimburg/Wiggin +19 (21-9 21-5 12-21 3-3) to win the bronze medal.
