Looking at the excitement of adding this new tournament to the ever expanding IWT calendar, FIR President Duncan Stahl said the following:
“I’m hugely excited that we will be taking the FIR World Tour to India later this year, as we host our first ever IWT tournament right in the heart of the amazing city of Mumbai. Myself and the FIR have been working closely with the Racketlon India Sports Association (RISA) for a number of years now and after the inevitable difficulties through Covid, I’m very glad to see that RISA continues to develop Racketlon in India with more and more tournaments and India will also be bringing a record number of teams to Rotterdam this year for the World Team championships.
In Mumbai in particular the quality and volume of Racketlon tournament venues is simply unmatched to anywhere else in the world I have seen. I’ve been lucky enough to stay and play Racketlon in Mumbai a few times and it has always been a truly memorable, amazing experience.
This year’s IWT tournament at the iconic Bombay Gymkhana venue will be a very special moment for our World Tour and for our sport. For those that are able to, I would urge you to take this opportunity of coming to play in Mumbai – it will be both a sporting and life experience you will not forget.”
