The first Women’s Team World Championship will be held next May in Turkey!

It is hoped the event will push existing players to even higher levels, inspire new players to take up racketlon and play more, and create an even greater sense of community.

While in the regular World Teams format four men and one woman start each match (unless an extra woman chooses to play in a men’s spot), here line ups will have between three and five women per match.

Each team match will consist of two singles and two doubles matches. Player A and player B will play both singles and doubles and player C can play doubles with both. It is also possible to use four or five players, with the extra player(s) taking one or both of the doubles matches, meaning players A and B only play singles.

Also countries can submit more than one side, eg 2nd teams and 3rd teams. So there is a lot of flexibility built in to the event.

It will be held on 22 and 23 May at the beautiful Inventist Academy in Istanbul, Turkey, which has already hosted two excellent Super World Tour (SWT) events, this year and last year. It boasts first-class sporting and hospitality facilities and a great on-site hotel. There are well-priced direct flights to Istanbul’s two airports from all over the world.

The tournament will be held alongside another SWT event and the World Doubles Championship. Women players can enter both the World Champs Women’s Teams and the World Doubles.

So it is perfectly designed for a team of four women, who could play in two doubles pairs in the World Doubles on 20 and 21 May and then as a team of four in the Women’s Teams (with flexibility for three in a team if one sadly gets a knock/injured).

The earliest start on Saturday 22 May is 09.00 on Saturday 22 May and latest possible finish 16.00 on Sunday 23 May.

Please send an email to duncan.stahl@racketlon.net and wtc@racketlon.net soon if you intend to try to send a team or teams, just as an expression of interest. It helps a lot with planning.

We will publish more tournament details soon, but in the meantime if you have any questions then please feel free to get in touch, via the same email addresses.

Hope to see you there!
