This years tournament has not only been upgraded from an IWT to an SWT, but has also seen a change of venue to the Hong Kong Football Club. The Football Club, which is one of the tournaments main sponsors, boasts many amazing facilities, including three international standard all glass squash courts and a 25 meter outdoor swimming pool.
The tournament has received over 80 entires from 12 different nations, with its upgraded status from an IWT to an SWT attracting many of the world’s best players, including none other than the current Women’s World Champion, Myriam Enmer and the current Men’s world number 4 Koen Hageraats. There are also many great entries from within Hong Kong itself, with 9 players from Hong Kong challenging for the Men’s A and Women’s A singles titles.
With the draws already out, lets have a look at what is to come.
Elite singles draws:
The Women’s A singles has been split into two groups of three, with Myriam Enmer the seed in group A and Stephanie Chung the Seed in group B, and the winners of both groups will progress to the final.
The Men’s A singles is a 16 man draw and with some standout matches already scheduled for the first round, there will certainly be some tightly fought matches and some great games, before someone claims the title on Sunday.
Elite doubles draws:
The Women’s A doubles is just a straight shoot out between two pairs for the title, with Myriam Enmer and Crystal Ho Suet Ying taking on Cheuk Ying Kwan and Elif Wong.
The Men’s A doubles is starting in the quarterfinals stage, with 8 pairs battling for the title. The pairs to watch out for are the first seeds Nicholas Leggenhager and Koen Hageraats and the second seeds Matěj Volf and Patrick Moran.
The mixed doubles also starts in the quarter finals stage for four of the pairs, with the first seeds Nicolas Lenggenhager and Elif Wong, and the second seeds Crystal Ho Suet Ying and Tze Ho Ho, getting bye’s through to the semi finals.
