Griffiths brothers, Pauline Cavé & Julien Castel win titles in Lanzarote | IWT La Santa Open 2025

Pauline Cavé teamed up with Julien Castel to win the Mixed Doubles on Saturday, and the World Number 1 continued her winning ways to win the Women’s Singles on Sunday. Julien Castel was unable to replicate his Mixed Doubles partner’s efforts, he was knocked out of the Men’s Singles in the quarter finals by unseeded Brit, Jamie Watkin-Rees, by just two points.

Lastly, in the Men’s Doubles, the Griffiths brothers defended their 2024 La Santa Open title, winning every set on the way to victory. At the time of writing this introduction, Leon & Luke are still competing against each other in the Men’s Singles final!

Mixed Doubles

Pauline Cavé & Julien Castel were made to work in their round 1 match against Kirsten Kaptein & Noah Mamié. The French pair trailed by 8 points, before winning tennis 21-5 to win the match. They were less troubled in their final match against Adeline Kilchenmann & Léon Mamié, winning by 20 points. Kilchenmann & L Mamié defeated Kaptein & N Mamié for the silver.

Men’s Doubles

Top seeds Leon & Luke Griffiths were untroubled in their first match against Czech pair Šimon Kniezek & Matěj Volf. However, another pair of brothers, Léon & Noah Mamié, ripped through their first match against Brits Dave Edgar & Keith Lesser in similarly destructive fashion, setting up an intriguing final.

The Swiss kept things close in the table tennis, before the 3-time World Champion pairs took things to another level in badminton and squash. 29 points up after squash means no tennis was required – another title for Leon & Luke Griffiths.

Women’s Singles

Pauline Cavé continues to improve her game, making it difficult for her rivals to keep up. The World Tour Finals Champion defeated Dutchwoman Kirsten Kaptein before tennis. Adeline Kilchenmann from Switzerland, pushed her match against Pauline to the tennis, after a good win in badminton. But Cavé was ultimately too strong, winning by 21 points overall.

Adeline Kilchenmann defeated Kirsten Kaptein by 7 points to win the silver medal.

Men’s Singles

As discussed earlier, the Men’s Singles finalists are still on court, battling it out for the title.

To get to the final, Leon Griffiths defeated Léon Mamié from Switzerland in the quarter final, then fourth-seed Matěj Volf from Czech Republic in the semi final. Luke Griffiths has defeated two Brits, Rohan Shergill in the quarter final, then Jamie Watkin-Rees in the semi final.

Neither has needed their tennis racquet yet, although both of them lost the table tennis set of their semi final.

And the winner is…

Leon Griffiths! He defeated Luke 21-18, 21-17, 19-21, 17-11 (+11).

That’s all for the 2025 FIR World Tour. We hope you’ve enjoyed the year of racketlon and look forward to seeing you on court again in 2026!
