First-round matches for the men’s elite doubles , quarter-finals will be later today
The men’s first-round matches started at 10:00 this morning, with wildcards Kainulainen/Mustonen getting the better of British duo Haynes/Langworthy. The Fins lost table tennis in badminton but took a huge advantage in squash winning it 21-3. They finished the match by taking tennis 14-5 to book their place in the next round. The overall score was +17 (17-21 15-21 21-3 14-5). They will play second seeds Hougaard/Jaksland at 16:40 in the quarter-finals.
Another Finnish duo through to the quarter-finals are Pennanen/Penttinen. They beat Main/Wiggin from New Zealand +21 (21-10 21-7 17-21 1-1). They will now face fourth seeds Hageraats/Lenggenhager at 16:20 today. On the top half of the draw, Plettenberg/Thyregod battled past wildcards Mouchet/Narayanaswamy. They went into table tennis with a completely even scoreline, and managed to take it 21-9. There was a slight injury break for Narayanaswamy during tennis but luckily he was able to play on. Plettenberg/Thyregod now play third seeds Champod/Duthuillé in the quarter-finals.
Top seeds Leon and Luke Griffiths also had a bye in the first round, they play Radermacher/Wiessner who defeated British youngsters Davidson/Wilson +22 (21-10 21-13 21-19 1-0). Their quarter-final will start at 15:40.

Paul/Fischer take out the no 2 seeds
Paul/Fischer have started incredibly well taking out the no 2 seeds Allègre/Kaptein to book a spot in the semi-finals. Paul/Fischer lost table tennis but managed to take badminton and squash 21-16 and 21-9, which only left them with 7 points in tennis. They won tennis 7-2 and the overall match +20 (20-22 21-16 21-9 7-2). They will face Chung/Schickerling in the semi-finals, after the American duo got the better of Lau/Ogram. Chung/Schickerling started well winning table tennis 21-6 before Lau/Ogram bounced back taking badminton 21-15. Chung/Schickerling proved too strong in squash, taking it 21-11 which only left them with 3 points in tennis. They won the match +22 (21-6 15-21 21-11 3-0).
On the top half of the draw, Bramhall/Jacobsen got the better of Dilloway/Parslow, beating them +30 (21-7 21-10 21-16). They now face top seeds Ahlmer/Enmer in the semi-finals who got the better of Swiss duo Ladner/Wavre beating them +34 (21-10 21-12 21-7). Ahlmer/Enmer have played Jacobsen before many times, and are keen to take the win after losing in the semi-finals last year. They haven’t played Jacobsen/Bramhall before as a duo so it will be exciting to see what will happen.
The women’s semi-finals start tomorrow at 11:15 and 11:30.
