Record Numbers Heading to Club La Santa

Club La Santa 2018

The Club La Santa Open is welcoming a record number of racketlon players to Lanzarote for its 3rd edition.

64 players are taking part in the event, eight more than last year’s total of 56.

It continues to cement its reputation as one of the best young tournaments on the Racketlon World Tour as numbers increase for the second straight year.

Four of the world’s top-10 women are making the journey to Lanzarote while two of the top-5 men are joining them.

Club La SantaThe Club La Santa Open returns for a third time

The third edition of the Club La Santa Open is taking place from the 2nd to 4th March at the Club La Santa in Lanzarote.

Racketlon first found its way to Lanzarote in 2017 when Racketlon Denmark organised the first Club La Santa Open. The tournament was an immediate success with players raving about the facilities on offer both in and beyond the tournament.

54 competitors took part in the first edition of the tournament with 56 competing last year. Now, that player record has been broken once again as 64 people head to Lanzarote for the popular tournament.

Following the record-breaking news, tournament director Kresten Hougaard said, “I am very happy about the excitement surrounding this year’s tournament with the biggest amount of players in the three-year history of Club La Santa Open.

“Many of the players coming to Club La Santa this year have been the both in 2017 and 2018 and beg for me to do the tournament again. This is what motivates me to do it year on year. That and my love for this amazing place, which is paradise on Earth for anyone who loves an active lifestyle.”

Both previous Men’s champions are heading back to Lanzarote. 2018 champion Kresten Hougaard and 2017 champion Morten Jaksland are in attendance along with fellow Danes Jesper Hougaard and Malte Thyregod. French star Arnaud Genin is also in action as he looks to extend his 11-match winning streak.

The draw and schedule will be released later this week.
