The second edition of the Thailand Open will be coming in early 2019, from 04 to 06 January. After the first Thailand Open was done successfully, although only a low number of entries, tournament director Frank Kleiber tries it again, but this time AFTER new year on the first weekend of the year 2019. The venue is again the Ambassador City Hotel Jomtien near Pattaya. The hotel will again offer very special rates for players, so that everybody can stay near the venue and enjoy playing Racketlon.
For those who live close to Thailand, the local U-Tapao airport will be the nearest one, a pickup can be arranged for 800 Baht (r.a. 20 Euro).
For international arrivals Bangkok´s Suvarnabhumi International Airport will be final destination. The pickup for a 90 minutes drive of the 120 km distance will be arranged for 1200 baht (r.a. 30 Euro).
Important fact: Due to the tournament is in 2019, the registration cannot be done with a 2018 license, that’s why the registration is not open yet. This will be done by FIR only at the end of the year. If you want to register, please write a mail to frankkleiber@freenet.de with your full name, FIR-ID, mobile phone number (for building a whatsapp group), birthdate and the classes you want to apply for, then your registration will be put in manually by the tournament director.
Furthermore we are working hard on the subject, that near to that date there will be another FIR tournament in Hongkong, or in India, or both, so that we may hold a small “Asian Tour”. On that topic we will keep you informed via this channel here.
