Racketlon Results and the Australian Racketlon Open – by Simon Lau

Racketlon works with a web service called Tournament Software (TS) to manage and record its FIR Tournament results.  If you play Racketlon you will most likely have already used this Website to enter the tournament and pay your entry fee.

Lovers of Racketlon absolutely crave for the IN-THE-MOMENT, WRITE-YOUR-OWN-FUTURE battles on the court.  But maybe there are some people out there that get even more from Racketlon.  Maybe there are some people like me, that feel excitement on entering the Racketlon, choosing the Category and their Partner, planning their training, perhaps travel and hotel too.  Like booking a holiday, there is a good measure of happiness generated in the anticpation of the event.  TS is a core part of this build-up. You can click on the PLAYERS tab to see which of your Worldwide Friends (and opponents) have entered.  You can browse the EVENTS tab to see whose entered in the same category as you. And wonder who might be seeded and who you might be drawn against in the first round.  There’s a wealth of information on the venue and the courts – well worth a look at.  But be sensible with building your excitment and anticipation.  In my younger days it caused many sleepness nights for me – after looking at the draw, my stupid brain would get locked into a cycle of meaningless fake rallies and what-ifs !! Thankfully I now experience the Smiley Endorphins without pumping the Adrenaline.

During the Racketlon Event, the organisers use TS to manage the match times and court usage.  And an accessible results page shows all the players points scored for all the matches played over the event.  TS is a fast loading website that gives clear information on Draws and Matches and Players and its easy to browse through the results.

Its a long, long flight from the UK to Australia so my involvement with the 2024 City of Logan Australian Open Tournament was restricted to looking through these results on TS.  And of course reading Sanne Veldkamp’s social media channel reporting and watching some video clips and live match streaming kept me in the picture.  Here’s a quick summary of the 2024 City of Logan Tournament seen from my perspective.

I’m often drawn to looking at the extremes of events, so I looked through the TS results to find the most dominant winner and the toughest path to the Champions’ Podium for the different categories played.

My analysis of the data shows that the two strongest Winners were Amke Fischer and Samuel Li.

Fischer lifted the Womens A category averaging +35 wins over her opponents and Li took the Over 50s Title with an average of +32 wins.

The closest fought title was the Mens A Category with Sion Wiggin on the Winners Podium averaging +11 wins over his opponents.

The longest route to become the eventual Winner also goes to Amke Fischer.  Fischer battled through 323 points to lift the Mens B trophy, followed closely by Sion Wiggin who played 316 points to claim the Mens A title.

Finally, some call Racketlon the Ironman of Racket Sports because of the almost continual play throughout an event.  Over the 3 day tournament, Fischer claimed 3 titles, Mixed A, Womens A and Mens B.  Fischer played a grand total of 822 rallies across the 4 sports, and in true Racketlon Style, won a massive 511 points ! Well done Amke, thats a great achievement.
