2023 FIR World Doubles Championships – Junior title winners

Even though most categories were finished on Friday, along with the Juniors U21 which saw Harca/Sam defeat Wilson/Davidson in the final, the other junior categories played throughout the weekend to see who would win the World Championship titles.

U21 – Harca/Sam, Ogram/Griffiths, and Pye/Ranson are the new champions

Top seeds Ogram/Griffiths won the u21 mixed final as they beat Ranson/Davidson +16 (19-21 24-22 21-13 14-6). A first u21 mixed title for Ogram and a second for Griffiths. Ranson/Davidson had a great run this tournament, beating second seeds Reissenauer/Böhm in their opening round. However, Ogram/Griffiths were a bit too strong in the final. Pye/Wilson defeated Steiner/Harca +4 (18-21 18-21 20-22 21-9) for the bronze medal playoff. The girl’s u21 was won by Pye/Ranson who won both their poule matches. After taking the u16 title last year, they followed it up nicely by winning the u21 title. They defeated silver medalists and last year’s champions Lau/Ogram +18 (21-6 17-21 19-21 13-4) and bronze medalists Steiner/Zobačová +36 (21-5 21-12 21-10). The juniors U21 was won by Harca/Sam who defeated top seeds Wilson/Davidson in the final. Both had come through the semi-finals quite comfortably but knew they had to work hard to win the title. Harca/Sam narrowly took table-tennis, badminton, and squash, which only meant they needed 10 points in tennis. They played very well and took the match +18 (21-17 21-18 21-16 10-4) to crown themselves u21 World Champions. Gupta/Böhm took the bronze medal.
