ERU Youth U10 & U12 Categories for Juniors at World Champs

The youngest official FIR draw for the World Championships from August 19 to 22 in Vienna is U13. This category is played according to normal racketlon rules, with normal balls and sets to 21 points. For the first time in Racketlon history, U12 and U10 Juniors draws will be played. This is according to the Youth Concept of the European Racketlon Union with adapted balls and court sizes and all sets to 15 points.

Level Green U12 and Level Orange U10

The new draws were named on the basis of the colour ball system of the ITF – International Tennis Federation. In the Level Green U12 draw, green tennis balls are played, but all other rules stay the same as in the U13 draw. Both singles and doubles are played.

In the Level Orange U10 draw, only singles are played and with major changes. Table tennis, all stays the same. In badminton, only half-court is played and in tennis, orange balls are played on the smaller, orange court. Squash is removed from the Level Orange U10 draw.

“Hugely excited to see this development for younger and younger juniors categories at our World Championships”

“For the development of the kids, all sets are finished in all sports”, says ITF speaker Michael Ebert. He helped develop the concept together with ERU president Marcel Weigl.

“It is a great pleasure that this innovative draws finally celebrate their international premiere”, says Weigl. European Racketlon Union and the Federation of International Racketlon have signed a cooperation agreement to use and promote this Racketlon Youth Concept for juniors worldwide.

“I’m hugely excited to see this development for younger and younger juniors categories at our World Championships. The all-around physical skills that Racketlon can offer kids in these age groups are fantastic for their development. I hope that they are inspired by being able to play at a World Championships and it sets them up to be Racketlon players for many years to come.
