In just a few days we will all meet here in Prague and because of that I would like to tell you some important information. Above all I would like to say that we have the highest attendance so far and with the 160 registered players from 21 European countries, as well as from overseas, you have helped us to set a new attendance record of Czech Open. There will be 21 categories, 12 single and 9 double.
But with the great numbers come some important choices and information. We have decided to use the neighboring areal HECTOR, which some of you may know from the First European Championship in 2015, as well as the traditional areal of STEP. We have come to this decision with player’s best interest in our hearts, mainly so you don’t have to play any matches in late night hours; everyone can attend the Saturday pricing ceremony, dinner and players party. Some of the players can even participate in 4 disciplines….
HECTOR’s courts are of high quality and are the same level as those ones in STEP. More matches of categories Men B and Seniors +45 and some matches of Women B will mainly be taking place in HECTOR. You DO NOT have to worry about the transportation between STEP and HECTOR, because there will be a nonstop shuttle bus.
Only Saturday matches will be taking place in HECTOR; you can find these in the draws, marked with numbers of court 3 and 4 (C3, C4).
Due to the high number of matches, we apologize to all players for short breaks between some matches.
A few important notes:
We recommend taking double set of shoes for all players, since tennis will be played on carpet with granulate (STEP) and on artificial grass with sand in HECTOR.
For the transport from The International Václav Havel airport Prague we recommend using the taxi (yellow cars are the official airport transportation)
Because of the full occupation of most categories we could not accommodate some if the late entries. These players are placed on the reserved list and in case of vacancy, will be informed immediately
Don’t forget your accident insurance!!! Every player plays at his/her own risk. (But we strongly hope that there will be no injuries.)
Stay in shape, we wish you a safe travel and we are looking forward to seeing you in Prague!
