Is this a sport for as many people as possible or just for the few, ive put a good case forward for having events for 40+, but instead of having this event the people on the board with votes have brought sport for the few not the many, by bringing in 50+ and 60+,its not surprising that these two events where brought in by people of this age that are on the council, good luck with that cause we have lots of 60+ players dont we.....notWorld championships
Firstly I would like to thank the organisers of the event as was a excellent event. The timing of matches was much better than Firstly Krenn congratulations your efforts this year have proved you are truely the number 1 in the world, good luck and hopefully we will meet on next years tour well done. Furth, the facility was excellent as a badminton player a dark sheet over the back of the court would help but it\'s same for everyone. It\'s a pity you won\'t be holding this event next year as was very nice the atmosphere was good with sone excellent matches. Jorn help me with tt and I will help you with badminton hehe. Well I will see you on next years tourWorld Championships
Congratulations to those who put so much effort and energy into organising the tournament in Loehne - no mean feat, especially in the short time available. So that next year\'s might be even better, a few suggestions: 1. is it possible to make 1 or 2 computers available to the players to do their own queries regarding results, playing schedule etc.? Would help stop the occasional communications gap, and relieve the organisers to spend more time on other things. 2. If this is not possible, is there any way to post the day\'s results onto the pinboards more often, so the players can see who has won what, and whom their next opponent will be? 3. Would it be possible in future to organise with the restaurant to offer healthier things to eat (or at least, some pasta in the evenings)? A top performance requires high-grade fuel... Once again, thanks for a great tournament in Loehne. Results Wilson Racketlon Challenger Dronten (NL)

How about changing the age events i\'m the wrong side of 40 now so i\'m not going to hope to compete with people half that age in A class,so having events at 45 and 55 is great, but to much space in the middle, surley if you look at major sporting age events , this is how there events are run +35 +40 +45 +50 and soon up to 75 in a lot of sports, come on racketlon a few changes.3rd Cape Open
50% returning faces and the rest new, this either shows that Racketlon has yet to tap the market out there who enjoy a good run, who love all the racket sports and who get a kick out of seeing how everyone copes with the psychology of altering and swiftly moving between the codes of table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis. Or it simply means its just too much for some to handle. The arguments and discussions are furious and no one has yet to agree which player from what background copes best. Besides the obvious of some lucky few who have had the opportunity to play all 4 at an early age I believe it’s the squash and badminton players who do best. They are used to much more physical extremes, agile movements and delicate touch. Table tennis players have spin capabilities which will fit well in a circus act but have little or no fitness levels (this coming from a table tennis player himself). Then again I find that the 3 codes who haven’t played squash struggle, they struggle with the angles, the walls and the opponent which isn’t separated by a safety net. The 3rd Cape Open this Sunday will be no different where the best of their disciplines put their wits against each other and try to prove who is the best racket player out there. Will it be number 2 and 4 seeds Christos Yiatses and Willem Theart with their badminton agility or number 1 seed David Darlington who has yet to win a tournament with his all round ability and tremendous hand eye coordination. From long breaks we see the return of tennis specialists Barry Fransman and Belford Hendriks, what secret training have they been up to?. Making their debuts are Rob Pringle, Simon Nainkin who may pull some surprises. All in all a tough draw for Men’s A group. Men’s B sees Michael Frylink seeded 1 hoping to take the title, but being a new sport here in SA the talents will soon be discovered. Racketlon is for anyone and everyone, from social players to competitive athletes looking for a new challenge. They have come to the right place. Ladies number 1 seed Cheryl Anne Murphy will have experience on her side as she fends off number 2 Danielle van Niekerk and previous Ladies B winner Jennifer Houston. This should be a cracker. Juniors turnout was a little disappointing, could be due to the holidays and exams, but I’m sure it will grow in time. Play will start 9am sharp at the University of Cape Town, it promises to be a day of camaraderie and great games, but the main target is fun. Time schedules are tight and finals are planned for 15:45. Weather forecast 21 degrees, sunshine and basically windless beautiful day. We invite you to come and enjoy the day with us. I was under the impression that everybody was guaranteed at least three matches on International tournaments? Most single-classes in Prague had only two. It\'s not a lot for your 50 €. I must give a compliment for the great venue! I really enjoyed myself! There were just a few things which weren\'t perfect. The outside tenniscourts were very slippery (.....and rented...)and the Wilson squashballs made good squash hard. The schedule for doubles was also something to work on. It\'s hard to play two matches within 45 minutes...:). Nevertheless a great thanks to the organisation for a great tournament overall!Paul T.
Double World Champs
In the old Tournament Requirements for 2009, 3 matches are recommended but only 2 required. FIR Council has already taken the decision to change this for 2009. Otherwise congratulations to Svata Rejthar and his team who found a new venue only six weeks after they knew the 3rd Squash court wont be built in the old one. This venue with hotel on site is one of the very best on the FIR Racketlon World Tour. Concerning the time schedule, it was not perfect, but maybe other tournaments can learn that it is impossible to play mixed doubles, men doubles and womens doubles at the same time. It would be better to play one draw in the morning and the other two in the afternoon. Thanks again Svata for a great Doubles World Champs.King of rackets

All favourites came through in the field of again 16 players at the 2nd tournament on 10th, Aug 2008. Volker Metz has made his way to the final by passing Sarina Leibig, Jochen Radeck and Michael Eubel + 15 (21:4, 21:11, 9:21, 7:7) in the semi final. In the bottom half Werner Seel has beaten Reinhard Kotz, Walter Mehl and No 3 seeded Thorsten Rust +14 (11:21, 21:11, 4:21, 5:8). Volker Metz has started the final with a 21:15 win in TT and was looking like the easy winner at 16:6 lead in Badminton. But Werner Seel was fighting back and lost only by 14. After a 21:17 for Werner in the Squash Court Volker needed in the final Tennis set 13 points. In a dramatic set Werner Seel was already at 18 until Volker has got his 13th point. The third place went to Michael Eubel ahead of *local hero* Thorsten Rust. Again we have had some newcomers at the tournament and they all enjoyed the Sunday of racketlon sport. Outstanding was the 13 year old Sarina Leibig at her very first Racketlon try in a field of 15 males, with good Table Tennis, Squash and excellent Tennis she ended 14th. Next event will take place at 05th, Oct. 2008 at 10.00 h at Sport Centre Open in Altdorf/Bav. The first classic Racketlon Club in Germany “Union Spielraum Nürnberg” presented great matches at its 1st Championships last weekend. In the end Sebastian Bueschel was able to edge off the very strong field of particitpants in an exciting finale. It was played according to a round robin system. In fact Bueschel was defeated by his double partner and most feared opponent Toto Mueller (16:21, 21:13, 5:21, 4:9/-18), but he clearly won against his training partner Kroier. As Kroier surprisingly defeated the top seeded and up to then unbeaten Mueller (21:6, 13:21, 21:19 ,13:5/+17) Bueschel was finally nominated as Club Champion because of the better point relation compared to the other two top players. At the end Müller took the second place, newcomer Kroier the third and Michael Eubel the fourth. In doubles the title went to the world class team Bueschel/Mueller who defeated the newly formated team Kroier/Eubel competently. At all the SPORT:PARK in Fürth was a perfect place for such an exciting tournament.come on

The Finnish Open audience may once again look forward to a dream final between the two giants of racketlon, Magnus Eliasson and Mikko Kärkkäinen. This is the first appearance in the World Tour this year for both of them. The lack of tough tournament matches was clearly to be seen in their early round matches, even if they got through quite convicingly. Before the possible dream final Magnus has to beat Pekka Kainulainen and Mikko Stefan Adamsson in the semis. In the veterans +45 class Anders Lundström looks strong enough to take the title and in the all Finnish +55 class Sten Lindström must be cosiderd the favorite. The big question in the men’s B-class is, if Michaela Björnström, in the absence of a womens’s class, can make it all the way to a victory. In the quarters Michaela beat the number one seed Lloyd Pettiford by 19 points. The ”national” C-class is an open affair with only one seeded player, Mikko Nissinen got through to the semis. The Finnish national coach sami Parikka meets ”first timer” Sami Orakoski and Nissinen has to take on Ville Sippala who beat second seed Mika Näykki. I completely see the need of a licence with all the benefits for the FIR and also for players who reguarly take part in FIR tournaments! For all players who want to get to know racketlon, participate for the first time in a racketlon tournament or might only join one FIR tournament per year, it is just an additional cost of 10 Euro which they need to pay (for nothing!). I think at the stage of development this sport is at the moment it is the wrong way. It might be time for this in a few years but not now. I am sure this will discourage some players in joining a tournament, which then is a boomerang for racketlon development. So FIR, change this rule again....! CheersNico, TD Swiss Open
Not next year
Nico - next year everyone pays at the first tournament. Not a good move in my opinion, what do you think? KeithKeith
Tournament Registration
By the way: Very good idea that you don\'t have to pay the registration fee if you only participate in one world tour tournament per year. As tournament organiser this helps to attract people who want to get to know racketlon.. CheersBeks claims first title
Bart Beks, the semi-professional tennis player from Eindhoven claimed his first tour title last weekend as he won the 4th Volvo Waregem Cars Open – the first time this tournament had been granted challenger status. In the end Bart won the event without facing too many close matches – his closest match actually came in the second round against local badminton star Lieven Plouy +10. The key for Bart was that he reached each tennis set almost level – not a bad position for arguably the best regular tennis player on the tour!
The final against fellow countryman Paul Twisterling was a repeat of their encounter at the recent World Championships – with the same result. Bart, with his worst sport as badminton, has the worst possible profile for Paul and as they were level heading into the tennis it was game over. Bart had been equally impressive in the semi-final, defeating number 1 seed Gert Peersman +23 after a particularly impressive badminton win.
In the bottom half Paul had beaten Geert Blomme at the semi-final stage; a 21-11 squash win for Paul against a tired looking Geert was the killer blow. Paul had previously defeated German hope Heinz Nowicki. Geert went on to beat Gert in a very close (+4) battle for 3rd position. One other particularly good result in the A category came as tournament director and hotelier Serge Delesalle beat Andrew Kim +20! It is never easy organising and playing and an excellent 6th position for Serge was a good reward. Lloyd Pettiford will also be pleased as the Welsh Dragon ended in 7th – a great day for Wales as their rugby heroes also triumphed against the English.
Sebastien Vandenabeele had a couple of close matches before snatching victory in Mens B against Tony Nightingale, Stefaan Dossche triumphed in Mens C and Koenraad Theunissen had an extremely narrow (+1) victory in Mens D.
The women\'s results are unfortunately inconclusive from the website so well done to all!
One other exciting development was the presence of two English players currently living in Luxemburg with talk of a possible Luxemburg Federation being created soon, and talk of various suitable venues for a potential tournament over a Carlsberg or 4. (Don\'t worry Marcel, I\'m on the case)
Bart Beks will be present in Budapest next year as he increases his participation in racketlon; although he is unable to play as much in the summer due to his tennis commitments. But with a little more improvement in his first three sports, coupled with an already existent professional attitude, the PSV fan has the potential to go a long way.

Article
Here is an article form a local Newspaper located in Grass Valley about the first ever Racketlon tournament in the USA "Battle of the Rackets 2007" http://www.theunion.com/article/20070613/NEWS/106130159Joey Schubert
1st BATTLE OF THE RACKETS 2007
I am glad to announce on the following weekend (Sunday June 10th) the 1st US Open called "Battle of the Rackets 2007" will take place on the courts of the Ridge Raquet Club in Grass Valley, Northern California. It will be organized by the 2006 u16 World Champion Joey Schubert and the club owner, Nick Bodley. "The goal is simply to have a fun day and to introduce local members of the club and friends to Racketlon," announced Nick Bodley. Truely, the goal is not to attract international playes, more to just prepare the USA for Racketlon. "There are many talented people in this club and a lot of them challenged me a while ago, including Nick!" Watch for futher information and results!Joey Schubert
Thanks, Marcel!
Thank you, Marcel for giving us players such a nice national and international environment to play Racketlon! ManuelRacketlon is getting more exposure in Quebec
In our effort to introduce Racketlon to the Quebec province (French part of Canada), we were pleased to see an article in the national newspaper, people are getting more aware of this new sport. Some are event planning to travel to tour events. Now that the venue is ready for the Challenger on May 5-6, we are planning to run a monthly Racketlon league next season. This website looks good. See you in Laval. Rod Bedard Tournament DirectorRacketlon for kids
Just had a great Racketlon day with 240 kids in the age of 10 - 12. They all practiced every single racket sport for 30 minutes under the guidance of professional coaches and were entertained during the lunch by a TV sports reporter an actor, Trinko Keen (Dutch Champion Table Tennis) and Robin Ammerlaan (World Champion Wheelchair Tennis). They played Tennis and a Table Tennis Doubles. Also some schools organised a racketlon day instead of a traditional sports day. If you want more information about these kind of activities, please contact me.Great Work!
The website looks great and it puts Racketlon that extra step further into becoming an even more popular sport. We can even see our fruits of labour are paying off as the rate of new entrants in tournaments is alarmingly high and the word is spreading like wildfire. You have my full support from Canada.Congratulation on the new site, Marcel!
I am looking forward to a fruitful companionship between Racketlon.net and Racketlon.com for the good of Racketlon.
Good luck!

Rankings
Thanks John for your comments. Concerning the rankings please read Czech Open Story on the main page.No money, no rankings update. Thanks MarcelMarcel Weigl
Great site
Just to say great website, keep driving the sport to the very top Marcel, we are all behind you. I'm not knocking Kate Buchanan on the rankings , but wouldnt it make more sense to have them updated , say one week after a event, than at the end of the month , as the case show's , that now two events the Hungarian and the Canadian are still to be updated, again its difficult because of the time factor, and how much time people want to spend putting names on rankings?www.racketlon.net
