Ratzer steps in footsteps of Eliasson

Jesper Ratzer and Nathalie Zeoli are the winners of ALTERNATE Open (21-23.9) in Linden/Germany. The Dane beats Thorsten Deck in the final and stays unbeaten in singles 2012. "Jesper is walking in the footsteps of Magnus Eliasson", says World Number one Christoph Krenn, who will have to give way for Ratzer soon. In an all German final Nathalie Zeoli beats Silke Altmann in the women elite final and Zeoli also takes the women doubles title together with her mother Gabriele. In mixed doubles Silke takes revenge to capture the title together with Alex Köpf. Samonek/Stolicki win the men doubles draw after a gummiarm semifinal victory over Adamsson/Krenn. All results and endpositions are now online on www.resultreporter.com

Ratzers Badminton brings victory

21:4, 21:2, 21:7, 21:3: In four rounds of the men elite draw, all four opponents of Jesper Ratzer took only 16 points in Badminton, could not even win a whole set. That seems to be the secret of the Dane`s sixth World Tour victory of the year. Ratzer won all his matches with a margin of 15 points minimum, gave his opponents Alex Köpf and Stefan Adamsson, Thorsten Deck in the quarters, semis and final no chance, letting them only win the Squash sets. Surprise finalist was Thorsten Deck who thrashed Christoph Krenn in the semi with two impressing victories in Badminton (21:9) and Squash (21:8). In the match for Bronze the finalists of Austrian Open met for revenge, with Adamsson beating Krenn by two points this time.

Zeoli confirms topposition

In the women elite draw world number one Nathalie Zeoli takes her fourth victory of the year with victories over legend Lilian Druve, Christine Seehofer and Silke Altmann. In an all german final Zeoli proved who is the clear number one of the country and lost only Tabletennis to Altmann. Also the young german players were good enough for top performances. Sarina Leibig only lost in the Gummiarm point to Lilian Druve, while Julia Knake beat the Swed by two points to take fifth position in the end. Fourth place went to Svenja Kleb, who lost to Christine Seehofer in the third place play-off match.

Olympic doubles full of surprises

All the double draws at ALTERNATE Open were full of surprises this time. In women doubles unseeded Nathalie Zeoli and her mother Gabriele Zeoli won the final with Fischer/Leibig to become the first mother/daughter to win a FIR World Tour event. Even more surprising were the results in mixed doubles Julia Knake and Oliver Grau kicked out top favourites Zeoli/Ratzer in the first round and Fischer/Adamsson in the semis to reach the final, where they were crushed by Altmann/Köpf. Topseeded alternate pair Adamsson/Krenn lost an amazing gummiarm point in the semis to Samonek/Stolicki, who then marched on to take the title in men doubles.

Germans take most other titles

In all other draws it was naturally Germans taking most of the titles and medals. Alex Czerny walks on top of the men b - advanced podium, while Werner Seel is once again the best men c – amateur player. Holzinger/Zeuner take men b – amateur doubles, while Volker Sach wins the Seniors (+45) title, where serial winner Peter Sakovics already loses in the semifinals with Joachim Gersdorf. The only non-german victories happen in Juniors (u21) by Matej Dohnal from the Czech Republic and Swedish girl Anneli Druve in women b – amateur.

Prizes worth 10.000 Euro

The highlight of the International World Tour event was once again the prize giving ceremony with electronic prizes by main sponsor ALTERNATE worth 10.000 Euro. The elite winners Ratzer and Zeoli for example won a Sony Vaio laptop each. The sportscentre was closed the whole weekend for Racketlon and all matches played in 20 minutes rhythm on all courts with no stress at all. Stories of the players party on site will not be published. “A really perfect tournament, we hope that the FIR Champions League will take place here next year”, says FIR-Delegate Christoph Krenn pleased.
