Nearly 200 entries in 17 draws, RFA – Racketlon Federation Austria celebrates its 10-year-anniversary at NOVOMATIC Austrian Open (7-9 Sept.) this year. All friends of volunteers of Racketlon shall be honoured on Saturday evening, after the Charity-Exhibition and the men elite singles final at the players “Wiener Schnitzel” party. All top stars of international Racketlon will come to the Super World Tour event, with seven of the top-10 male players lead by world number one Christoph Krenn on the entry list. Even better the registrations for women elite singles, with a cut-off the 12-player-draw at word ranking 26 and both world number one Nathalie Zeoli and world champion Zuzana Kubanova present. The annual record on the FIR World Tour is 3600 Euro total prize money distributed. Late with drawls and entries please e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org All draws and the complete time schedule are now published and online on www.resultreporter.com
Everyone versus Austrians
Homecourt players Christoph Krenn, Michi Dickert and Joey Schubert are the top favourites for Austrian Open victory in a 24-player draw, with Stefan Adamsson and Thorsten Deck the biggest challengers who already meet each other in the quarterfinals in the second quarter of the draw. The winner will then face topseeded Christoph Krenn. On the bottom half of the draw Michi Dickert will need to eliminate his fellow countrymen Marcel Weigl and Joey Schubert for a place in the final if everything goes according to seeding, but watch out for Peter Duyck, Kasper Jonsson and doubles vice-world champion Stelian Stankov who might have something against that. Other wildcards went to Austrian youngster Christian Austaller and Rav Rykowski from Poland. In elite doubles topseeded are the Austrians Krenn/Dickert and Schubert/Weigl, but both will have a hard time already in the first round versus Stankov/Angelov and Stolicki/Rykowski.
Top 3 women on top half of draw
In women singles the three top favourites for the title were all drawn to the top half of the 12-player field. World champion Zuzana Kubanova will most likely face Isabelle Tyrrell in the quarters, that is if wildcard player Zsofia Troznai (comeback after baby pause) lets the English women win her first round match. In the semis it is then one of them versus topseeded Nathalie Zeoli for a place in the final. The half of the draw looks much easier with Simone Seitz and Lieselot de Bleeckere seeded and probably Christine Seehofer battling for a place in the final. The Belgian is also topseeded in women doubles together with Tyrrell, while Deck/Zeoli are looking towards a mixed doubles title.
All players treated like elite players
The 7th NOVOMATIC Austrian Open will operate with a similar budget as last year’s World Championships and thus offer best services for all players as usual. This includes a free airport and Tournament Trend Hotel Austria shuttle service, a high quality tournament magazine, Austrian buffet at the players dinner, free mineral water on the courts and a players dinner and party on site as well as the record of 3600 Euro prize money this year. “Most important thing for us is that all players are treated like elite players in Austria”, says Tournament Director and world number one Christoph Krenn.
