It is just a beginning in India

The First National Racketlon Championship in India was conducted on 27th & 28th Feb in Parbhani, district of Maharastra. Players from 12 different states of India participated. There was a huge gathering at the venue. Most of them were eager to know how Racketlon game is played. Funny thing is most of them know that individual can play in any one event, means their idea was participants can take part any one of the four sports. Anyway, it is just a beginning. Read this report by the General Secretary of Racketlon Federation India, Manoranjan Mishra.

General Secretary traveled 1400 Kilometres

The championship took place at a distance of 1400 kms from my home. You know , India is a big country and players had to come there from much distant places, resulted huge expenditure incurred on their transportation and accommodations etc. Since it is a new game it was hard for me to get adequate sponsorship to meet those expenditure. As the European countries are small and around you it is easy for you to organise. In my opinion, international federation should grant some kind of assistance to those new entrants whose currency is much weaker to Pound /Euro. I am sure, such kind of assistance will give encouragement to organise more and more championships at different level. I am planning to hold a championship for under 13 years aged players.

Students take titles

This championship was conducted on 5 events. Men Single, Women Single, Men Doubles, Mix-doubles and Team championships. My home state got Women and Team championship. Mayuri Deka, a 3rd year Engineering student became women champion while a commerce graduate called Amit Kumar became men single champion. All participants had great fun and received a sample certificate along with souvenir. It was just a beginning, we will continue!
