10€ License Payment online on www.resultreporter.com

FIR has taken another important step into the future, all players can now pay the annual players license for 2010 via paypal on www.resultreporter.com. “A great innovation which takes only 2 minutesâ€, says FIR-President Marcel Weigl very pleased. At the same time the monthly FIR World Rankings (1. Feb) are now published with one big major change: With the introduction of the new Seniors classes +50 and +60, from now on only one single Seniors ranking for all age classes will be used by FIR. Thus it is very important for all Seniors to check and enter their correct birthdate on www.resultreporter.com

FIR Tournaments can choose to collect licenses

Only one minute after having paid the players license online, players are automatically marked on www.resultreporter.com as paid and can sign in for any FIR tournament. This gives all tournament organizers two options: Either they allow players to pay the license fee online or in cash on site or as a second option they can only allow entries for players who have paid the license online. “We think this is the perfect solution for all organisers, who can then have no excuses for not wanting to collect licenses. If they don’t want to, they don’t have toâ€, says Weigl. The only small problem could be completely new players, but this can be solved by each tournament individually.

New Rankings on 1st of each month

The new FIR World Rankings have been published on 1st of February with no changes except one single Seniors Ranking. As a reminder from 2010 only the best 8 results (instead of 10) of the last 24 months count for the World Rankings and furthermore the highest (instead of the lowest) possible finishing positions count and the points matrix has been slightly adapted. All Seniors rankings will be grouped together as one single Seniors ranking and all FIR World Rankings as well as the FIR World Tour Race will be updated 12 times a year on the 1st of each month. From 2010 FIR World Rankings will be dated with the 1st of each month including all tournaments which have finished during the previous month. In most cases the World Rankings will also be published on the 1st of each month, only if the last day of the last tournament was very close to the end of the end of the month, will the World Rankings be published a few days later. 2010 a record of 14 tournaments count for the FIR World Tour Race.

Senios classes 50+ and 60+ added

FIR Council has also decided that 50+ and 60+ Seniors Classes will be added from 2010. This means that these classes will be held at the World Champs and can (but must not) be offered by any World Ranking Tournaments. If at least 4 players sign in the class must be held. As a consequence to avoid four different Seniors World Rankings, these will be grouped together as one single Ranking with different quality factors (as above) for different Seniors Classes: The system has been set up so that the Over 45s in a World Tour event get the same points as in the A class in any other event. So that means the over 50s get 50% of those points the Over 55s get 25% and the Over 60s get 12.5%: this corresponds to A,B,C, D in any other Class. In practice this means Seniors can achieve the most World Ranking points in +45 followed by +50 and so on. The younger the class, the more points can be achieved. At a later stage the Seniors ranking can be grouped together and sorted by age classes.

Quality Factor

The FIR World Ranking system awards ranking points based on a player’s highest known finishing position within a FIR World Ranking Event. The system is governed by a published FIR WORLD RANKINGS POINTS MATRIX (see Pdf-File below) that provides points for categories A, B, C + D within the 4 ‘grades’ of FIR World Ranking Events:
World Championships*** = Quality factor x2
Super World Tour*** Events = Quality factor x1,5
International World Tour** Events = quality factor x1
Challenger* Events = quality factor x0,5
