University Championships in Hong Kong
Staff and teachers working at educational organisations in Hong Kong were eligible to take part in the last Championships of the old year 2009. of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where Hong Kong Racketlon president CM Chan is physical education teacher. The victory in the men elite class went to Wai-Kit Cheng, who already had international Racketlon experience.
Heavy rain stopped some Tennis matches
There were 10 men veterans, 16 ladies and 33 men (total 59 players) competed in the Men's Veteran, Ladies' Open and Men's Open class. Racketlon Federation of Hong Kong, China sponsored the Championships with free gift (a sports shoes bag) to all players. Some matches had to be stopped at Squash before Tennis due to rain and lack of indoor tennis courts. Anyway, all players played for at least 2 matches in the first round. All matches were officiated by referees. I myself, even though at veteran age took part in the Men's Open for bigger challenge and defending my champion title gained last time. Unfortunately, I was marginally defeated by 1 point in total score at the semi-final and finally ranked 2nd runner up. My colleague at CUHK, Mr Steven, Wai-Kit CHENG (who took part in British Racketlon Open 2009) finally captured the champion title.
