FIR AGM and first Non-European Racketlon Summit
FIR held its Annual General Meeting - AGM 2009 and the last Council Meeting of the year during the World Champs in Löhne/Germany this year. Please find attached the most important decisions such as the Minutes of both meetings. Two weeks earlier in the first ever Non-European Racketlon summit General Secretary of Indian Racketlon Mishra Manoranjan and Patric Kalous from South Africa met with Hong Kong President CM Chan in Hong Kong to discuss Racketlon development outside Europe.First Racketlon Tournaments in India
One of the main issues in Hong Kong were the weak currencies outside Europe, which make participation of Non-European teams on the World Tour in Europe difficult. First steps for India are to travel to Hong Kong and South Africa with a team and CM Chan to travel to India to guide Manoranjan Mishra with the first Racketlon tournaments at school level.
Teachers Championships in Hong Kong
The 2nd Hong Kong All Teachers' Racketlon Championships will be held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong on 30th and 31st December. A total of 58 teachers (or staff) working in educational institutes have enrolled for the event, 33 for Men's Open, 15 for Women's Open and 10 for Men's Veteran. Hong Kong Chairman CM Chan the defending champion in the Men's Open and Mr Ho (Vice-Chairman) was the 1st Runner up in Men's Veteran last year. Letter of Recognition
The attached letter of recognition is an example of what FIR needs from all national Racketlon federations in order to get recognised by Sportsaccord (former GAISF or AGFIS) as an official sport. We need urgently need new members! FIR now has 26 member states and needs 40! Any potential members please contact weigl@racketlon.net
Doubles in Nationalteams
A new format for nationalteams will be introduced for the first time at the Nationalteams World Champs in Austria (3.-5. September) 2010. The 3rd men single will be replaced by a men double, meaning 6 men can be on the squad instead of 5. Matches will continue to be played to 11 points and the system like in Germany 2009, with all players playing one sport before moving on to the next.
Best 8 tournaments in 24 months
From 2010 there will also be slight changes in the FIR World Rankings. Due to players only playing an average of 2,5 tournaments in two years in future only the best 8 tournaments in 24 months (instead of 10) will count. Furthermore like in all major sports the best possible finishing position will be taken in account for the Rankings if positions are not played out. In all elite draws, players are guaranteed 4 matches counting for the World Rankings.
Seniors Classes added
FIR Council has also decided that 50+ and 60+ Seniors Classes will be added from next year. This means that these classes will be held at the World Champs and can (but must not) be offered by any World Ranking Tournaments. If at least 4 players sign in the class must be held. The Seniors World Rankings will be classed together as one single Ranking with different weights for different Seniors Classes.
