Krenn and Altmann win World Tour Race

With the beginning of December the 2009 end of the year rankings have now been published by FIR as well as the official results of the World Tour Race. World number one and World Champion Christoph Krenn also won the World Tour Race. On the Women side it was a success for Germany at last, with Silke Altmann at the top of the podium.

Mix up with Schubert

World Championships surprise bronze medal winner Johannes Schubert secured a double victory for Austria ending up on second position in the World Tour Race behind mate Christoph Krenn. Jermaine Manners from England took Bronze. Only around 100 points lie between place two and four of Alexander Köpf, which led to a mix up during the price giving ceremony at the World Champs, where Manners and Köpf were declared second and third. Apologies for that from FIR, who will honour Joey Schubert at the next World Tour event the youngster plays.

Van der Woerdt jumps on Podium

In the Womens Race Marielle van der Woerdt from the Netherlands made a last minute jump on the podium with her World Championship final. Silke Altmann took a close victory for Germany followed by Czech girl Katerina Sodomkova who well deserves her second place for playing the most tournaments among the girls. Just outside the medals, Swiss girl Nicole Eisler as fourth.

Sach and Lindström win Seniors Race

In the Seniors classes it was another victory for Germany, with Volker Sach winning the +45 Class followed by Steve Kneller who took the first Race trophy for Wales. The fight for third place went to Peter Sakovics from Hungary just before German Christian Alte. In the class +55 it was a double victory for Finland with Sten Lindström outclassing Markku Merta and Swedish president Lennart Eklundh ending up third.

Polish look forward to rules change

In Men Doubles Alexander Köpf wins the race, but is followed by K. Samonek/N. Stolicki from Poland, who look forward to the change of format for nationalteams from 2010, when the third men single will be replaced by a men double. In Mixed Doubles the pair and private couple Petr Vesely/Katerina Sodomkova take the top positions. In the Junior classes Andre-Kristopher Toomjoe wins the u16-class and Paul Sach receives the second World Tour Race Trophy in the family in the u21-juniors class.
