All results are online http://www.resultreporter.com/node/2409/draws/admin/list A video of the tournament is already online on www.racketlon.at

Number One Krenn surprises everyone

With the confidence of the number one in the World Christoph Krenn plays the tournament of his life and beats both favourites to win his home tournament. Doug Struthers and Stefan Adamsson never lost to Krenn but this time they were chanceless in Tabletennis and surprisingly Badminton, and Krenn went into Tennis with a lead in both matches. Surprise semifinalist was the unseeded Rav Rykovski from Poland who ended up fourth in the end. It was a tough draw with some good players losing early like Calum Reid against Doug Struthers or Stefan Jezler who had to let Krenn walk over in the Quarters. On the march up are the youngsters with Joey Schubert only losing by one point to Calum Reid and players like Paul Sach and Mario Gruber going to the Quarterfinals.

Unseeded Van der Woerdt with 2nd victory

Major upsets happened in the Women Elite. The final between Marielle van der Woerdt and Susanna Lautala-Näykki was a one sided show with clear wins for the Dutch girl in Badminton and Squash to win her second World Tour title in a row and third overall. Bronze went to Austrian Kerstin Peckl, which was her first time on the international podium by beating Nicole Eisler from Switzerland. Number 3 seed Simone Seitz and 4 seed Eva Hrabina lost already in the Quarterfinals against Eisler and Van der Woerdt.

Comeback of the Highlander

In Men Doubles Calum Reid and Marcel Weigl paired only because Alexander Köpf injured his thumb, because the German was supposed to give his debut with Marcel Weigl. “To our own surprise we beat top favourites Krenn/Dickert” in Tabletennis and big time in Squash, which was the decider”, said Weigl. Third place went to alternate pair Stefan Jezler and Danish comebacker Emil Bergander who replaced Paul Twisterterling, whose flight was cancelled. In Mixed topseeded Sodomkova/Vesely outclassed Hrabina/Rohacs in the final. The Hungarian took revenge by taking the women doubles title with Simone Seitz from Austria.

6 Senior players from 5 Countries

The senior classes are getting more and more popular with many players from different countries coming in. On the podium of 45+ and 55+ were no less than players from 5 different countries. In 45+ Peter Sakovics won the battle this time against his doubles victory partner Volker Sach in the final. In Seniors 55+ it was Czech match up which went to Schwan before GĂĽrlich.

Women win Battle of Sexes

The highlight of the tournament ended with a close victory for the Women in the Battle of the Sexes. They chose a perfect line up and the fight ended with a 2:2 in sets, but more points for the females. The decider was in Tennis when Stefan Adamsson lost his nerves after a clear lead against Effe Henkelmann and gave the Women Team an overall victory of 1 single point.

Lounge4 a superb Players Party place

After the Battle of Sexes and the free beer at the players dinner many participants were seen at the players party in the new location Lounge4 directly at the tournament hotel. Great music, big dancefloor, a pool and a poker table made the night out for many players very enjoyable. It is said that apart from many male players Women Elite Winner Marielle van der Woerdt was one of the last guests. Respect as she had to play her semifinal at 9 a.m. “It was a good try, but I think we will keep the party there for next year”, said Krenn.

Winners from all countries

In Men B the victory went to Swedish newcomer Pär Mattson. “And I nearly put him in the Men C Class”, was Krenn happy he did not, with record player Anders Lundström from the Seniors (+45) runner-up and Nico Hobi from Switzerland on third position. In Men C it was the Czech Pavel Port, the brother of A player Jan Port, who beat Christian Reicherseder in the final. In Men D it was the pole Dzislaw Paliwoda who took the title against Austrian Michael Rupp. In Women B it was yet another victory for Austria with Roman Beyer beating Svenja Kleb in the final.

Juniors Classes dominated by Austria

Victories in u16 und u21 Juniors went to the home nation. Johannes Schubert and Florian Ptacnik were not to beat. Only in the u16 Girls class Sarina Leibig was responsible for a German victory in a group, where three girls had two victories each. “Luckily we made a rule exactly for that only one day before at the Council Meeting”, said Marcel Weigl.
