Singles World Champs WANTED!
As expected moving forward the deadline for World Tour 2010 applications by three months to end of June, has made the application process slow. “Nevertheless more or less all expected applications have reached FIRâ€, says Executive President Marcel Weigl although some application sheets and confirmations by national presidents are still missing. “A matter of greater concern is, that we have no candidate for the Single World Champs yet.†Therefore the final application deadline is extended for over a week until Sunday 12th July midnight.
Only Singles World Champs a problem
There are enough candidates for all tournaments, with Malmö, Granby/Canada, Oudenaarde, Eindhoven, Vienna possible candidates for Super World Tour. Hamburg/Germany is the only applicant so far for the Double World Champs and Vienna and Eindhoven competing for the Team World Champs played separately from the Singles from 2010. “The worst case is, that Singles World Champs are not played for a year and return 2011, but I am sure the problem will still resolveâ€, says Weigl.
WT Final Application Deadline 12. July
“By Sunday all applicants must have filled out the application sheets and sent them per e-mail to FIR Headoffice office@racketlon.net together with the national presidents confirmation. At the moment some tournaments have only sent datesâ€, says World Tour Officer Michael Dickert. After that Dickert and Weigl will hold some more personal telephone calls and adapt the dates so that the World Tour 2010 can be officially announced in the middle/end of July.
